Fees & Insurance
How payment works
Blue Horse is a self-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly.
Our fees
Fees are discussed with each family during the initial call and provided in writing before the first appointment, together with a Good Faith Estimate. A card on file is required, and payment is collected at the time of each visit.
Visit lengths are consistent: the initial psychiatric evaluation is approximately 90 minutes, the treatment-planning visit approximately 45 minutes, and medication follow-ups 30 minutes. Fees for forms, letters, and other services outside of appointments are explained before any work is done.
Cancellation, late-arrival, and other office policies are provided in writing as part of the intake paperwork.
Using out-of-network benefits
We provide a superbill—a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, and reimbursement is not guaranteed.
Before your first visit, you may want to ask your insurance company about your out-of-network mental health benefits, deductible, and how to submit a superbill.
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to a written Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you receive it. Because our fees are flat, your estimate is straightforward: we provide it in writing before your first visit, and you may request one at any time.
